Daily Life

The family I visited lives in Beijing. They are the Lui familiy. They were workers. Almost all the men worked in factories. For fun we read the Little Red Book. They didn't pray to anyone. We ate some delicious rice. The government had many rules so we couldn't do or say much without getting in trouble. At the beginning of the day we ate breakfast and got ready for work. At the middle of the day we went to work and it was hard. At the end of the day we left work went to a rally for Chairman Mao, and ate dinner. On the way back i saw a man with a sign hanging from his head, it looked like it hurt.

      Jiang Qing, Zhang Chunqiao, Yao Wenyuan, and Wang Hongwen are being tried for the death of thousands of people during the time of 1966-76. They are also being tried for anti-party avitivities. The trial will is being held in Beijing. It has been said that the official papers will not be released. Supporters of the Gang of Four are also being held accountable such as Red Guards, Chen Boda, and Mao Yuanxin. So far they have obeyed Chairman Mao at all times. Zhang Chunqiao refused to admit any wrong at all. Yao Wenyuan and Wang Hongwen and confessed to their crimes and will be sentenced after the trials are complete. Jiang Qing was very defiant. That is all for the trials right now.

Interview with Jiang Qing

Q: How do you feel about being part of the Gang of Four?

A: It feels good. I like to make a difference in China. Also I want those awful Four Olds to be gone!

Q: Why do you want to get rid of the Four Olds?

A: I want to make China better. I need to do this by making it new.

Q: What are your goals for China?

A: I want China to become the most powerful country in the world! It must become new and revised. We must destroy the Four Olds!

Q: Why do you hate foreigners?

A: They are trying to change us. They are trying to make us weak! We need to detach from them completely!

Q: What will you do once China has become the most powerful country in the world?

A: We will conquer other countrys and make less and less foreigners in the world!

Editorial

            The Gang of Four is getting charged with the deaths of approximately 34,385 people through policies and Red Guards.

            The Gang of Four deserves to go to jail!

            The Gang of Four controlled many of the “power organs” of the Communist Party of China such as the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution

            Also the Gang of Four got the Red Guards to do very bad things such as killing, torturing, destruction of property, and public humiliation.

            One last reason is that the Gang of Four signaled the Cultural Revolution, which in turn caused this mess.

            Some might say that the Gang of Four is innocent and that it was Mao Zedong that should be charged instead. They might say that because the Gang of Four got into power from Mao Zedong. They are wrong because the Gang of Four did the crime not Mao Zedong. Why accuse a dead man?

            So that is why the Gang of Four should be sent to jail for what they did. Also possibly sent to execution.

Map Paragraph

            This is a map of China during the Cultural Revolution. As you can  see it got a lot smaller since the Qing dynasty. A big portion of what was lost was Mongolia. Another part is near Vietnam but it is a small part. That means either Mongolia got stronger or China got weaker. The capital at this time was Kashgar. That is some things about the map during the cultural revolution.
